Not in a very long time have I met a 26 year old that impressed me this much, quite accomplished but so humble, so kind, so meek, gentle yet so aware and smart and fun and genuine and fearless. In a few weeks you have shared so much of yourself, becoming a favorite, shared of your aspirations and we would talk through and plan them out, I would ask what you want and you would say pray for me. Maybe I should have prayed more.... <br></p>
<p dir="ltr">You were going to go for your next development course but was worried if you showed interest now they might send you and make you miss your sisters wedding in September, or Ebuka's wedding in October or your friend who will have your head if you don't make the wedding in November. So you would rather delay that progress for three months to be there for these people. That's who he was. He gave so much and always quick to reject favors. Always quick to tell me you didn't have to bother. Now I wish I did more, but I didn't even know what to do for you. But I am glad to have done what I could. I remember your message to me accusing me of always feeling like an Angel when I offered to help with your dads present. Peter it was what you gave you got back; I mirrored you to you.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I have ordered your fathers pen with his name engraved as you requested, it will be delivered next week and I will ensure it gets to him as I pay my respects to you.<br></p>
<p dir="ltr">I think of your last moments and I know you would have first been concerned about the passengers but I also wonder what it's was like grappling for your life, seeing death in front of you, being stuck in the tight cockpit of a helicopter struggling to remove the seat belt. Will you have that signature smile on your face as you finally let go? </p>
<p dir="ltr">I didn't think it was you that deserved to lay lifeless in a polythene bag but the Lord has asked me, "who are my to determine when and how?"<br></p>
<p dir="ltr">I am beginning to accept that the world doesn't deserve you, God only sent you to show us what he would like us to be and snatched you quickly before this world messes your kind soul. You have gone to the rightful place with the father.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Heaven is where you belong.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Rest well Champion!<br></p>
<p dir="ltr">I can't begin to imagine what Ebuka Obi Uchendu feels, Olamide Adedeji, Noble Igwe who you always revered and said to me gave you your first job, and many more who have all kind things to say of you.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Oh your mother and father you spoke of so highly, they were your ultimate role models. I am glad I encouraged you to take them to dinner on their last trip, you almost missed it but somehow you did and they loved it. Your sisters you spoke of often with so much pride, Ajoke and others</p>
<p dir="ltr">Time can't heal this wound but God will touch everyone of them with peace and release succor around them in love.</p>
<p dir="ltr">You are a Champion for life and I wish the world knew you while you were alive. I do hope that everyone of us will take a little lesson from your life and live more purposefully, being truly kind and sharing genuinely wanting nothing back.<br></p>

Operatives
 of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad have shot and killed an alleged 
kidnap gang leader, John Paul,31, during an exchange of gun battle in 
Lagos state.<br />

The force also rescued a victim, Saheed Kolawole, said to be the 
director of Scot Hotel in Odonla who was abducted around 10pm on Friday,
 January 30, 2015 in the Ikorodu area of the state.<br />

The kidnappers took Kolawole to an unknown destination after which 
they called his family on phone and demanded a ransom of $200,000.<br />

According to Punch,
 while the family reported the matter to the police, they also made 
arrangements to pay the ransom. The gang reportedly told the relatives 
to come to a place in the Owutu, Ikorodu area.<br />

On Wednesday, February 4, 2015, the unsuspecting kidnappers went to 
collect the ransom on a bike when the police who had been on ambush 
opened fire on them.<br />

They returned fire and during the encounter, the gang leader 
reportedly sustained bullet wounds while other members fled the scene.<br />

The leader of the group was rushed to the hospital where he died the next day.<br />

The police traced and discovered their hideout where they allegedly 
rescued their captive who according to a police source was brutalised by
 the gang who cut his body with cutlasses.<br />

According to the source, the same gang had attacked the Owutu Police 
Division in Ikorodu, and killed two policemen during another gun duel.<br />

He said, “The kidnappers took him (Kolawole) to an uncompleted 
building in the Owutu area from where they were communicating with his 
family.<br />

“They stripped him naked, and used cutlass on his body. They poured 
petrol on his skin and threatened to burn it so that his family would 
hear his scream on the phone and agree to pay the ransom.<br />

“It was the same gang which attacked the Owutu Police Station and 
shot dead two policemen. They are known to have multiple hideouts in the
 area. The police have shot dead their gang leader and the others had 
fled for now.”<br />

A Toyota Corolla car marked, APP 626 CP, was recovered by the police.<br />

During a press briefing on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, the Lagos 
State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, said, “When I got the 
information, I directed the Operation Commander, SARS, SP Abba Kyari, to
 go after the gang.<br />

“The SARS decoy team was able to gun down the kidnap gang leader and 
rescue the victim alive. The operational vehicle of the gang was also 
recovered while further investigations are ongoing to apprehend other 
fleeing gang members.”<br />

 – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it had arrested
 129 suspected drug traffickers at the Murtala Muhammed International 
Airport (MMIA), Lagos, in 2014 as part of its anti-narcotics war.<br />

The Head of Public Relations of NDLEA, Mr Mitchel Ofoyeju, disclosed 
this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday,
 February 18, 2015 in Abuja.<br />

Ofoyeju said the suspects comprised 118 males and 11 females, while 
436.065 kg of drugs estimated at about N2. 9 billion was seized from 
them.<br />

“The breakdown indicates that cocaine has the largest quantity with 120.44kg.<br />

“Methamphetamine is next with 108.645kg; cannabis sativa 107.855kg; 
heroin 51.01kg; psychotropic substances 37.285kg and ephedrine 10.83kg.<br />

“The estimated street value of the seized drugs in 2014 was N2.9 billion,” he said.<br />

He quoted the NDLEA Commander at the Lagos airport, Mr Hamza Umar, as
 saying that 117 traffickers were apprehended on 18 airlines, while 44 
of them were arrested trying to import narcotics into the country.<br />

He said that drug traffickers had adopted different modes of drug 
concealment while the command arrested 29 persons who ingested 
narcotics, 88 hid the drugs in their luggage and four were connected 
with anal ingestion.<br />

The NDLEA spokesperson said the MMIA command also made financial 
seizures including 24,362 dollars, 23,450 Euros, 10,000 Pound Sterling, 
N240, 000 naira, 1,140 South African Rand and 250, 500 fake dollars at 
the airport in 2014.<br />

He said that the NDLEA Chairman, Mr Ahmadu Giade, had in the 
aftermath of these seizures said the agency would continue to work round
 the clock to curb drug trafficking not just in Lagos but across the 
country.<br />

Giade urged the commanders to step up security checks at all airports
 so as to make it difficult for drug traffickers to penetrate all exit 
and entry points.<br />

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the statistics of drug 
arrests and seizures at MMIA, Lagos, in 2014 show that arrests increased
 by 16.22 per cent compared to the 93 drug suspects with 878.81kg of 
narcotics arrested in 2013.<br />

 Abu-Bakar, Malaysia Chief Inspector General Police, said a 14-year-old 
Malaysian girl, who allegedly wanted to go to Syria to join jihad 
fighters has been detained by the police.<br />

He said, on Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur, that the girl was arrested on 
Tuesday, February 17, 2015 but did not give her personal circumstances 
or the place of her arrest.<br />

Abu-Bakar said the latest report from the Home Ministry indicated 
that more than 50 Malaysians had joined Islamic State militants and 
allied groups in Syria and Iraq.<br />

He said more than 20 others have been charged in court for planning to go.<br />

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister Anifah Aman on Wednesday described as
 “utterly deplorable” the recent killing of 21 Egyptian Christians in 
Libya by a group linked with Islamic State militants.<br />

He said the government of Malaysia expresses its deep sympathy and 
condolences to the government of Egypt and the families of the victims.<br />

“May they have the strength and courage in this difficult time,’’ he said.<br />

A legal practitioner, Barrister Babatunde Ojo, was on Monday, February 
16, 2015 arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC
 before Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, 
on a 48-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence, 
forgery and issuance of dud cheques.

Ojo allegedly used his company, Amberville Communications Limited,  to 
obtain the sum of N117, 350, 000.00 (One Hundred and Seventeen Million, 
Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) from Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Awodiya
 of First Hebron Homes and Investment Limited in the guise of allocating
 50 shops at HFP Eastline Shopping Complex, Ajah, Lagos, to them.<br />

The victim was allegedly linked to Ojo by one of the directors of the 
Shopping Complex. He was told that, the amount per shop was N4, 000,000 
(Four Million Naira only) , with  Fifty (50) shops, costing N200, 
000,000 (Two Hundred Million Naira only).

The victim negotiated for 50 shops but paid a deposit of N117, 350, 
000.00 (One Hundred and Seventeen Million, Three Hundred and Fifty 
Thousand Naira). However, the director that linked the victim with Ojo 
later denied knowledge of any transaction for sale of shops with the 
suspect, and invariably debunked claims of having received payment from 
the suspect.<br />

All efforts to get a refund of the money paid for the shops proved 
abortive.

One of the charges read:
“Babatunde Ojo and Amberville Communications Limited, on or about the 
13th day of April, 2010 at Lagos within the jurisdiction of this 
Honourable Court with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of N15, 
000,000 (Fifteen Million Naira) from Awodiya Olusegun Mathew under the 
false pretence that the money was part payment for purchase of fifty 
(50) shops from HFP Engineering Limited at HFP Eastline Shopping 
Complex, KM 26, Epe Expressway, Ajah, which representation you knew to 
be false”.

When the charges were read to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty.<br />
<br />
Prosecuting counsel, Vera Agboje prayed the court for a trial date and 
that the defendant be remanded in prison custody.

However, defence counsel, R. U. Nnamani urged the court to allow her 
present application for bail at the next adjourned date and applied that
 the suspect be remanded in EFCC custody.

Justice Ipaye, however, ordered that the defendant be remanded in 
Kirikiri Maximum prison and adjourned the matter till March, 18 and 19, 
2015 for trial.<br />
